Vision and Mission Statement
This Vision and Mission Statement has been a very, very long time in development. This Vision has been slowly conceived and refined over many years.
A key influence was Spencer Johnson, who asked the following questions in:
Yes or No? The Guide to Better Decisions.
1) The Head Question:
Am I meeting the real need, informing myself of options and thinking it through (Yes, or No)?
2) The Heart Question:
Does my decision show that I am honest with myself, trust my intuition and deserve better (Yes, or No)?
If you can answer both questions with a Yes, you are on your way towards a better decision. According to Spencer Johnson:
Needs must be prioritised over wants. Wants are wishes. Needs are necessities.
The Dare to Dream Vision.
NEIL stands for:
Nurture, Encourage, Inspire and Liberate.
To facilitate positive change by embracing life’s key challenges.
I believe that creating Positive Change is possible by consistently focusing on:
1) Worthy Goals: The setting and active pursuit of carefully crafted, realistic, goals that lead you towards a growing sense of purpose and;
2) Relevant Mission: A growing, compelling sense of one’s own unique, mission (with its own unique meaning, purpose and importance) and;
3) Optimal Values: Learning to lead a vital, action orientated, balanced life, (in alignment with one’s true calling, vocation or passion), in accordance and in harmony with carefully considered, skilfully chosen ‘optimal’ values (i.e. guiding principles).
I have more recently come to an understanding that learning to accept one’s own limitations and the pain that inevitably comes our way is infinitely preferable to avoiding, denying or fighting reality. This has been a hard lesson to learn.
Seeking positive change may not prove to be easy, but I believe the effort in securing it and the growth and learning that comes from its pursuit, in spite of the risks of failure and the fear of loss is worth it.
Persevering in one’s chosen calling is the ultimate gift to the self, and to others who, in seeing your example, are also inspired to change.
In essence, it is about enjoying the journey, the experience and the moment – this moment – of living.
It is about striving, surviving and ultimately, thriving.
How? Get all your ducks in a row!
