60 days of positive change

How to make positive change a habit over sixty days in six minutes a day

Overnight, I had an idea. An idea I could share. An idea to help create positive change. An idea about generating and spreading kindness, calm, connection and above all, doing no harm. I wondered: “What might be achieved if I devoted just 5 or 6 mins a day, to an act of kindness, calm or connection (to myself and/or to others), and did that every day, for sixty days?”

Here’s my invitation to you: Carve out 5 or 6 minutes from your day for one positive action, to instill a new positive belief, to make a commitment and carry it out. An action that may spawn a positive ripple in your life, and that of your family, workplace and your community.

Something different, something new

A slight stretch: I suggest it might be something you don’t normally do, that puts you outside of your comfort zone, perhaps just a little bit. Maybe something you have been putting off for a while. Make it a slight stretch. Maybe it’s something you have never actually done before, but perhaps you have wondered what it would be like if you actually just did it!

Here’s a suggested outline of the idea.

  1. Set a time to determine one positive action you can take today.
  2. Capture it in writing and commit to its completion.
  3. Then do it, preferably straight away, or otherwise before the end of the day.
  4. Record that you did it (tick the box, and tell somebody else you did it too).
  5. Notice how it feels to have done it, and told somebody else. Celebrate its completion.
  6. Encourage that other person to try the 60 in 60 idea for themselves.

I have attached an example and a template to help kick start the process.

Enjoy your next sixty days of positive change!

I’d love to hear about what you come up with and how it turns out.

Kindest regards,

Neil Paddock

Acknowledgement

I would like to thank my son, James (AKA “Jimmy”) Paddock, for coming up with the original “30 in 30” concept, which he has used to good effect in creating thirty music tracks over a specific thirty day period, at a rate of one track created and produced per day. James has regularly ‘walked the talk’ and completed this process five times to date, by producing five distinct “30 in 30” albums. The daily discipline is a good habit to get into, and builds a sense of satisfaction as progress is made towards the final end goal. James’s completed “30 in 30” albums created using this process can be found, streamed live and purchased here:
